The Matanuska-Susitna Borough has re-written and updated its 1984 Public Facility Plan to account for the rapid population growth the borough has experienced and to ensure that current and future public facilities provide an appropriate level of service to the residents of the borough.

The Public Facilities Plan Revision addresses:

·         Administrative offices, including records storage

·         Animal Care

·         Educational (schools and related support facilities)

·         Libraries

·         Maintenance and Operations

·         Public Safety (Fire stations, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Emergency

Preparedness)

·         Sewer and Water

·         Solid Waste

·         Mass Transit

The Public Facility Plan Revision does not directly address other important infrastructure or concepts that are contained in other plans specific to these topics including:

·         Transportation Facilities: MSB Long Range Transportation Plan 2007

·         Recreation, Parks and Trails Facilities: MSB Parks, Recreation and Trails Plan and

the Recreation Trails Plan.

I look forward to working with you in the review, adoption and implementation of this important plan.
