MSB Open House: Parks Highway MP 44-52 & Connectors

posted Jul 28, 2009, 12:04 PM by Tim Swezey   [ updated Jul 28, 2009, 12:12 PM ]
Summary of meeting:
  • The Parks Hwy mile post 44 to 52.3 is planned to be a 4 lain highway with a depressed center median.
  • The speed limit will be 55 with equally spaced synchronized traffic lights.
  • Planned moose mitigation is to cut back the brush and light the highway.

I stopped by the open house which was informative. No presentations, instead there were areas setup for each project.

On display were large aerial photos with overlays with the planned changes. I picked up all the information I could find and will be digesting it for the next few weeks.

Tracy K. McDaniel gave me a link to some accident information for the Parks which can viewed here:
For the Parks they dumped the Michigan Lefts and plan to go with equally spaced, synchronized traffic lights.

For wildlife mitigation they plan to cut back the vegetation and light the highway to make it safer in the winter.

The next step is to go to the next Meadow Lakes Fire Service Area meeting and find out what they think.
